LITERACY & NUMERACY:
Literacy and Numeracy are priority areas, especially in the early years of schooling. Both require focused teaching directly based on what children demonstrate they know and need to know. Both subjects are presented in uninterrupted blocks of learning time each day.
SPEECH, QUICKSMART, READ:
These programs are specifically designed to assist children who need additional assistance in the areas of speech, reading, writing and numeracy. Small group teaching sessions are provided to enable our students to confidently cope with classroom learning situations and activities.
HELPING IN THE CLASSROOM
Parents are welcome to assist in the classrooms by listening to reading. Contact your child's teacher and/or keep an eye out for requests for assistance in the fortnightly newsletter. It is a requirement that all parent helpers in the classroom provide a Working with Children check and also sign our Safeguarding Children – Code of Conduct.
SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES
School assemblies are every second week at 9am. Each Learning Group takes a turn in presenting the assembly with an item and a prayer. There is also the presentation of special awards, which include weekly awards and other special achievements. Assemblies are open to the whole school community.
SPORT UNIFORM DAYS:
Early in the year, parents are notified of the day students are to wear their sport uniform. At this time, the children wear their sport uniforms to and from school on the given day.
LIBRARY:
Students will be able to borrow library books each week from the school library.
Every student must have a library bag in order to take a library book home. The library bag is presented during transition visits.
